EPP – DAC software by Transcom is an application to utilise the DAC and EPP servers at Nominet for the purpose of Drop Catching .uk domain names.
Nominet release domains into the public pool for registration 90 days after they have been suspended, in most cases, this is accurate, so the Drop Catching software will be run on that day for a particular domain name, there are many dop list databases on the internet that calculate this for you, the best one seems to be Domainlore, where (free) subscribers can actually see pre bids on names due to drop.
Transcom’s EPP – DAC software is a linux command line application, so you will need a linux shell to run it, its the only way to gain a chance with catching, you will need to choose a host very carefully, as its the response time that is equally as important.
The software is extremely fast, fine tuned over a long term evaluation, much faster than the DAC 180ms timing count that ensures you dont go over your quota, (you can change this down to 1ms) and the time limitation between DAC advice of availability and EPP registration is milliseconds, it also has a built in keep alive to maintain the 59 minute renewal of the EPP socket, if this wasnt ensured, the connection after DAC avilability would be too long.
Software shell echo outputs are restricted during use, and final response given is by means of the actual Nominet XML response.
